Call for Participation
CAST 2010 is about testing skills: learning, observing, problem solving, understanding, decision making, and applying knowledge and experience to new challenges. Do technical or domain skills impact testing? What about other skill sets? CAST 2010 provides a venue to explore these questions and help us understand what makes a great tester.
Conference Mission
The primary mission of CAST 2010 is to help build an active community of software testing scholars, practitioners, and learners, and influence the software-testing practice through discussions among members of this community.
Conference Scope
CAST 2010 will accept papers that offer insight and understanding in the area of skills in software testing, whether they are theoretical or practical. The topics of the papers should be pursuant to the theme "Skills in Testing". Academic research papers, industrial experience reports and testing skill demonstrations are welcome.
This conference is intended to serve both practitioners in industry and scholars as well as students the field of software testing. The Program Committee will strive to establish a balanced program with participation from industry and academia.
The distinguishing feature of this conference is that all ideas accepted by the Program Committee are open to challenge, debate, and discussion. The conference will allow a high level of interaction among presenters and attendees, and flexibility will be built into the schedule so that the energy for a particular topic can modify the course of conference events. Trained moderators will be overseeing each talk so that discussion sessions are controlled and productive.
Submission Guidelines
Submissions of proposed presentations or panel sessions must be in the form of a 300 word (max) abstract along with a 100 word (max) author biography. The abstract must clearly outline the presentation content and indicate key findings and conclusions. The abstract must indicate the basis or source of the material presented. Both experience based or research based sources are acceptable to CAST 2010. The abstract must indicate the relationship between the proposed presentation and the conference theme “Skills in Testing”.
All accepted presenters are required to submit a paper following the ACM SIG Proceedings style, freely available at http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/template.html. There is no official page limit for papers. As a rule of thumb typical papers have been in the four to six page ranges. For panels, the paper will be a background outline or survey of the key issues discussed.
Please submit your proposal abstract via email to CAST2010CFP (at) associationforsoftwaretesting.org. Be sure to include your email and phone contact information with the proposal.
Note that only the authors of accepted presentations or panels will be contacted by CAST 2010.
Electronic copies of presentation materials and papers will be made available to all CAST 2010 participants.
